Let the pilfering continue

the soccer stadium with the bright lights

As you probably have seen, Alge Crumpler was released by the Falcons today. This is a guy who has not caught less than 42 balls and 5 TDs in any of the last five seasons. Outside of Jerramy Stevens “break-out” year in 2005 (45 rec, 5 TD), those numbers would be the best of any Hawks TE. Considering Stevens’ set Seahawks TE records that season, Crumpler could walk in tomorrow and have his worst season, and potentially be the best TE in Hawks history.

More please.

Perhaps more intriguing is the possibility that Warrick Dunn will be released in the future. He might be the perfect near-term solution for our RB situation. He’s still one of the best combination of catching and running out of the backfield in the NFL, and he’s a consummate pro. Links to Kerney and Mora Jr. can’t hurt.

Filling some needs this way will give the team maximum flexibility to pick the best player available in the draft and avoid reaching.
