Must Listen: Holmgren Interview

For those loyal two people that have read this blog from the beginning, you know I have a man crush on Mike Holmgren. The guy almost single-handedly willed my favorite football team out of a decade long sewer swim all the way to Super Bowl. It's not only that, though, that has me enamored with our former coach. He speaks to me as a father, a husband, a leader and simply as a man. I've also been known to have a little bit of temper myself, so that doesn't hurt either.

If you have any similar fondness for the guy, I highly recommend listening to this interview with KJRAM's Mitch Levy. Levy is an expert interviewer and has a sincerely close relationship with Holmgren. They talk about Holmgren babysitting his granddaughter for a week, making her lunches and taking her to Toys'R'Us. I found myself with a huge goofy grin on my face for almost the entire hour. They also talk about the potential that Holmgren may come back to the Hawks in some capacity at some point.

It's good stuff. Take a listen.

I heard this an loved it as well. You have to wonder if he'll ever return in some capacity?

Am I one of the two? And, i thought your man crush was on Nate??

I have more man-crushes and bromances than the average straight man, perhaps. Add Mitch Levy to the list of people I really like. I'd have to say, though, Holmgren enters the rare "hero" category for me. I don't have a lot of heroes, but he's one of them.

And, of course, you are one of the two! I'm hoping we see a re-emergence of cwu91. I abandoned everyone for a year, so we'll see...

I was born in Michigan so my first hero was Bo Schembechler (GO BLUE!). I cried the day he died. I didn't really follow pro football much until the year Holmgren took Green Bay to the SB and won it. I became enamored of him and his coaching style then and when we moved to Seattle and were (and are) season ticket holders, the most fun was watching his reactions and strategy. The other night I was watching some of the Cowboy playoff game (saved on the DVR, nothing better than seeing Romo fumble away the win) and seeing his grimace made me miss him.

Hey, I hope cwu91 is back too. I recall one game where he had all the comments.
