INFOGRAPHIC: Seahawks Passing Game: What Has Changed?

Defensive backs take part of their traditional pregame huddle before taking the field for warmups.
While working on a season progress report for Russell Wilson, I noticed a change in some numbers around the depth of his throws. Specifically, the ratio of short-to-deep throws changed, as did Wilson’s success rate on the longer throws. The infographic in this article captures a few of the numbers to take a look at.

These statistics were compiled week-by-week from ESPN.com splits of Wilson’s season. I thought Wilson may have shown some improvement in the last game, but could not prove it because Elias Sports Bureau stats that ESPN relies on did not update for pass depth in either Week 16 or Week 17 for Wilson. That is why you will see four-game splits for the first three-quarters of the season below, but just two games for the final quarter.
